This programme is developed with the aim to facilitate, promote, and enable mature employees to remain in active employment for as long as possible. The course enhances participants' understanding of the ageing process in the context of the current social and economic environment; provides a platform for participants to review and assess their financial circumstances, strengths, abilities and skills; and gives them an opportunity to explore employment or other options.

This five-day certificate course is designed to equip human resource personnel with the knowledge and skills to provide basic pre-retirement and or re-employment counselling to older workers. Participants will gain a more in-depth knowledge and understanding of older workers. In addition, they will be equipped with basic counselling, assessment, intervention and referral skills pertaining to pre-retirement and / or re-employment counselling to facilitate a smooth transition to the next phase of life for older adults.

Five-Day Course For Older Workers Aged 50 and Above Who Could Be Trained as Mentors

The certificate in mentoring is targeted at older workers that possess a wealth of relevant work knowledge and skills. This five-day programme is intended to facilitate older workers' ability to serve as mentors to younger or newer staff. Through the programme, participants will be able to gain an enhanced understanding of their personalities, strengths, abilities, skills and socio-cultural background; as well as of those they are mentoring. In addition, participants will be able to understand the components for developing key interpersonal competencies, communication and basic counselling skills; and learn to apply these knowledge and skills to become more effective mentors.
